What has changed in Web of Knowledge?
The new version of Web of Knowledge introduces new features that will ease the process of searching scientific literature and presents significant advances in the analysis and management of results.
- New algorithms have increased the accuracy of connections between source items and citations making the Web of Knowledge the most reliable research resource available today.
- More sort options with cleaner, simpler displays make navigating searches and citation paths easier than ever; while new capabilities help ensure fast and efficient searching

There is a known issue with the Accelrys JDraw Appelet where the chemical reaction cannot be properly copied. Accelrys is working to fix this and the problem should be corrected in the near future. In the interim, you can try copying and pasting again or redraw the structure directly within JDraw.
Can the lemmatization feature be turned on and off for individual alerts?
Lemmatization can be turned on and off for particular search sessions. If it is turned on when an alert is created, the alert will incorporate lemmatized results; if not, then it won't. Alerts migrated from the current version of Web of Knowledge will not be lemmatized.
Regardless of your subscription, you now have the ability to see times cited counts for items in every citation database on the platform (Web of Science, Biosis Citation Index, and Chinese Science Citation Index) to give users the broadest citation picture. We want users to know as much as possible about where their papers are being cited. Only products which a customer can access will have hyperlinks.
Why have the links to isihighlycited.com been removed from Web of Knowledge?
We are currently in the process of evaluating the methodology and selection criteria for Highly Cited Research, previously available on isihighlycited.com. In the meantime, we have made the decision not to update the database or identify new highly cited authors and have removed the links within the Web of Knowledge platform. We have created a directory, accessible at http://highlycited.com, where you can browse and view a compilation of highly cited researchers identified by Thomson Reuters between 2000 and 2010. The directory is located on our Research Analytics website, which highlights the array of resources we have for showcasing institutional output and excellence, including ScienceWatch, Essential Science Indicators, ResearcherID, and InCites.
Have the subject categories in Web of Science changed in this new version?
We have added more subject categories to Web of Science in order to give you a high level view of subjects that is consistent across all Web of Knowledge. This does not change the specific Web of Science categories that were used in the previous version of Web of Knowledge (version 4). You will still see them on both the Full Record and Refine panel in the Web of Science. We have simply added the Web of Knowledge categories as well.
I use Internet Explorer 9. Does Web of Knowledge support this version?
Yes, Web of Knowledge fully supports Internet Explorer version 9.
Why do the new platform features not work in DII?
DII is not using the new search engine or syntax. To make searching across different products in Web of Knowledge easier for DII users, DII appears on the new platform and is searchable within the All Database Search in the new version. Because we have not yet transferred the data to the new search engine, you only have access to the features and capabilities that were present on the previous version of the platform.
